Getting Hurt by People

In this life we will always be hurt by someone and there will be people that we hurt as well. This can be the type of sickness that lingers with us for many years afterward. Our emotions get stirred every time we think about the past event that has left us scarred for what seems to be for the rest of our lives. The good news is that God wants to heal those things inside of us that cause us pain, emotionally and spiritually.

Psalms 69:20
Insults and reproach have broken my heart; I am full of heaviness and I am distressingly sick.

Mathew 4:24
So the report of Him (Jesus) spread throughout all Syria, and they brought Him all who were sick, those afflicted with various diseases and torments, those under the power of demons, and epileptics, and paralyzed people, and He healed them.

The psalmist refers to insults directed towards us, as like being a sickness within us. Have you ever been hurt by someone? This may affect how you trust people, because after you have been hurt by people you trust, it is easy to become less trusting of others. A friend, brother, sister, husband, wife, or uncle ma have hurt you. Sometimes it is wise to carefully consider who you can trust, and other times our broken heart can make us sick, and not want to trust anyone. This sickness can cause us to over react and shut people out of our lives if their behavior even slightly reminds us of past hurts. Our verse from Matthew uses the word “torments”. That is what these past experiences do they torment us, meaning we relive the old feelings of hurt.

Our scripture says that Jesus heals these hurts or torments. He has done it in my life on several occasions and he has healed my children from past things that have bothered them.

God wants us to be free from these things so that we can live a more peaceful and joyful life. He also wants the people that you have hurt to be getting free from those chains of bondage that have had them captive too.

My prayer for you today is that God will heal you everywhere you hurt!

Just trust God to touch you in those deep wounded places and be willing to do whatever it takes to get your healing. Be ready for God to speak and prepared to carryout his orders without resistance. He may direct you to go to someone that you hurt and thus bring healing to you both. When he does, the Lord will provide the strength to talk to them and he will also tell you what to say.
