Saving Lives

The thought of witnessing to people is a little scary at times. Saving lives from the eternal flames is a necessary act that we must learn to do. Telling others about Jesus should come naturally. The following story actually happened in my life.

James 5:20
Remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

At the end of my street there is a stop sign that for awhile could not be seen because my neighbors’ tree branches were covering its view. Those of us that lived on the street were aware of the danger, but strangers to our street were not. One day I happened to be at the right place, at the right time and witnessed a near major accident there. I called and complained to the city and eventually, after much focused effort on my part, an additional sign was put up to warn people of the upcoming stop sign. It really was very dangerous. After some time the huge tree was cut down and now the sign is perfectly visible from very far away. After the incident God revealed to me that my passion to save people from eternal death shouldn’t be any different than my passion was to save a life at the end of my street. Here are some difficult to answer, but necessary, questions I must ask. Who has the Lord placed on your street today that is a stranger to Christianity? Do you make an effort to save an eternal life as you would an earthly life? Do you really believe in Jesus enough to tell some one of the danger that lies ahead? Witnessing to others can take us out of our comfort zone, but just think how uncomfortable they will be if they spend eternity in hell.

God help me today to be a witness for you. When I am around others, I want to tell them about my best friend for all eternity. I desire to let the saving power of the gospel flow through me to the lives that surround me.
