What Does it Mean to Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness?

If you want an abundance of the Lord’s presence, then spend more time pursuing his presence. Make plans to sit and eat at his banquet table; get hungry and thirsty for the things that God has prepared in the Spiritual realm for you.

Matthew 5:6

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.”

We will plan our entire week in relation to our plans for dining out at our most favorite restaurant to eat at. Often, we even make a reservation for a particular block of time of the evening to enjoy a nice sit down dinner there. We put on our finest clothes, wear our prettiest perfume, and fix our hair perfect to go out and satisfy our hunger and thirst for our favorite delights. Countless hours of our lives have been fulfilling the desires of our natural flesh.

What if we blocked out a special evening to spend with Jesus and got all fixed up in our best cloths for him? It would be a dinner just for honoring the King of kings and Lord of our lives. We could even designate a specific time to hunger and thirst for all of his goodness. We could soak in countless hours of his presence getting filled with the righteousness that he desires to fill us to overflowing with.

Sounds good doesn’t it. So, when can you reserve a special time with the Lord?
